Profile
Background
Hello. My name is Renato Guerreiro, but you can call me Ren. The initial fourteen years of my life happened in Macau, a small ex-Portuguese colony located in the South of China. The multicultural environment granted me fluency in Portuguese, Cantonese and English.
The next seven years were spent in Lisbon, four of which marked my enrollment in Computer Science at FCT. Discovering a stronger propensity towards visual modes of expression, my aim thus became the pursuit of creative freedom in the field of Web Design. The decision propelled me to obtain a degree in UK.
Right now I'm stationed in Cambridge, an inspirational city that serves as backdrop to my brainstorming sessions.
Other stuff I do
When I'm not delving into Web Design affairs, I dispense opinions on life, culture and humanity at Ghostboy. And sometimes I fight crime. Sometimes.

Philosophy and Process
A curious autodidact, I enjoy experimenting with various crafts, be them digital or analog, in order to expand my array of skills and communicate ideas in creative ways.
Personal accomplishment means dearly to me when tackling any project as one needs to genuinely care about what one does in order to fulfill its potential. I aspire to deliver web products that uphold the principles of usability, accessibility and standards while unfurling their identities in a balance of function and form. Overall, I consider myself an eternal scholar within the dynamic nature of the Web.
In terms of design approach, I'm partial to progressive enhancement and believe that the division of a website into modular components (content, presentation and behavior) leads to a more flexible maintenance for the designer and a closer awareness of the user's needs.
I seek inspiration for my projects by strolling in the city on a bicycle, watching and meeting people, doodling and writing ideas on paper.
My core design kit for any project is the classic combo of pen, paper and caffeine.
