Fabula Rasa

For my final academic year project, I took inspiration from my Game Designer friends and decided to build a web-based point-and-click adventure game.
It wasn't without hardwork, of course. Five months were spent learning the tools (Actionscript 3), researching on games of similar nature (chiefly the "Broken Sword" series and Lucas Arts' productions like "Grim Fandango") and the common elements among them, studying the theory behind storytelling while mapping out my own tale, illustrating characters and backdrops. It was ultimately a one man crew.
The final product was a modest prototype with room for improvement, fact that didn't preclude the lasting and satisfying effects of the learning process. This was the project through which I saw my skills rise in the areas of research, illustration and object-oriented programming.
It was also my first serious brainchild. I'm a proud parent.
